 National Trust Neptune Appeal
Chancellor Maritime Prints is pleased to be helping National Trust (NT) to raise funds for its Neptune Appeal, to acquire and manage more coastal land around the British Isles. NT members ordering through this website, quoting their special code, will also be helping the Appeal as we will donate £5 for every print sold.
This offer was inspired by John Chancellor's fundraising in the 1980's when he painted a watercolour to raise funds for The National Trust, then seeking to acquire land between Start Bay and Sharkham Point in Devon. The painting, 'Coasting', showing the Tamar sailing barge Shamrock in Start Bay, was raffled and raised a considerable sum. It was John's further wish that a limited edition print of the watercolour be produced and royalties from the subsequent sales were donated during the lifetime of the campaign.
Very few copies of 'Coasting' remain and other limited edition prints of his extraordinary works are now nearly sold out. Other prints showing coastline owned by the National Trust include 'Taking Bude after a Blow' and 'Easterly Haze' featuring Berry Head, Torbay.
